Founded in1989, the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) is the world governing body for the promotion and regulation of the practice, teaching and development of the Filipino Martial Art and Sport, also known as Arnis/ Eskrima/ Kali. Headquartered in the Manila, WEKAF is a non-profit organization that also holds official Filipino Martial Arts tournaments throughout the world.

On July 23, 2018 the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation awarded each of the Derobio Grand Masters Gary Largo, Grand Master Leslie Largo and Grand Master Carlton Kramer the “Order of Datu Lapu Lapu award plaqueand their official Order of Datu Lapu Lapu certificate.

The Order of Datu Lapu Lapu certificate and plaque reads “The highest honor in the hierarchy of the Filipino Martial Arts, for immense contribution to the growth, promotion, and worldwide popularity of Eskrima Kali Arnis, and imbued with the virtue of good values, character and integrity of a true master.”

Note-Recipients of the Order of Datu Lapu Lapu award are allowed to place the initials ODL after their last name. At the time of the Derobio Grand Master award ceremony, there were only 18 Grand Masters in the world that had received the award, three of which are from the General Ablen’s School of Derobio Escrima.
